PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between AJ Robles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bones McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKenzie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Yung Kidz - Snap, Crackle, Pop kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Bones McKenzie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, AJ Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bones McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robles misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McKenzie throws a nice inside leg kick.
McKenzie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Robles.
McKenzie stuffs the takedown.
McKenzie misses with a straight left.

McKenzie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Robles to the mat! Robles manages to get full guard.

Robles has his foot on McKenzie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McKenzie works his way back into a safe position though.

McKenzie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Robles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McKenzie on the ground.
Robles is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
McKenzie trying to control but Robles is working from the bottom.
McKenzie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Robles misses with a takedown attempt - McKenzie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Robles. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McKenzie finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McKenzie throws a head kick but Robles moves out of range.

McKenzie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Robles sprawls well initially but McKenzie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McKenzie is nestled in close to Robles, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Robles is breathing heavily.
McKenzie moves into full mount! Robles won't be happy about that!
McKenzie with shots to the head and body - Robles looks very uncomfortable down there.
Robles tries to lock up and control but McKenzie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

McKenzie throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Robles has his hands clasped together but McKenzie breaks the hold and Robles is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by McKenzie!
