Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hilo BJJ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Nicholson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Nicholson's choice of entrance music: PJ Harvey-The Whores Hustle And The Hustlers Whore . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicholson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in BJJ's guard.
BJJ had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nicholson defends it easily.
Nicholson wanted to stand there but BJJ had control of the position.

BJJ is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nicholson is aware though and is defending well.
Nicholson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
BJJ working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nicholson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nicholson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
