Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Cuervo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santiago comes to the ring accompanied by Get Em Up - Cypress Hill. Cuervo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Tequila-The Champs. Jose Cuervo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jose Cuervo!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Cuervo as he checks the leg kick.
Cuervo dives in and grabs Santiago's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santiago pushes down on Cuervo's head and hops out.
Carlos Santiago seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cuervo throws a series of punches but Santiago avoids them all with ease.
Cuervo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Santiago sprawls well. Santiago wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cuervo gets slowly back to his feet.
Cuervo walks into a stiff left hand from Santiago.
Santiago throws the kick towards the body but Cuervo avoids it.
Santiago avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Santiago lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Santiago falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cuervo counters with a solid body kick.
Cuervo has a takedown stuffed.
Carlos Santiago has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Cuervo.
Santiago misses with a wild body shot.
A big left from Santiago misses.
Cuervo shoots for a double leg takedown but Santiago sprawls well. He's pushed Cuervo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Santiago misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cuervo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Santiago sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cuervo somewhat.

Santiago throws a jab when Cuervo was well out of range.
Santiago throws a lazy head kick

and Cuervo counters with a single leg into guard. Santiago didn't expect that.
Cuervo won't allow Santiago to sweep him here.
Santiago wants to stand up but Cuervo is controlling him.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Cuervo trying to control the position from guard on top but Santiago is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cuervo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cuervo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Santiago wants to stand but Cuervo is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cuervo gets to his feet - Santiago follows without any prompting.
Cuervo looks gassed!
Cuervo drops his hands momentarily and Santiago takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Cuervo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Santiago.
Some wild striking there from Santiago.
Santiago digs a good body shot into Cuervo's ribs.
Santiago jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Santiago stuns Cuervo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Santiago throws a series of punches but Cuervo moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cuervo is defended easily by Santiago.
Santiago scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


Cuervo is rocked!

Santiago pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Santiago cracks the inside of Cuervo's front leg.
Santiago lands with a nice body punch.
Santiago lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Cuervo is still on wobbly legs! Can Santiago finish him?
Cuervo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Good exchange - Santiago coming out on top.
A decent looking cross lands there for Santiago.

Santiago gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Santiago scores with a hook to the body.

Santiago pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carlos Santiago is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cuervo walks into a jab.
Jab, jab by Santiago - just one landing.
Cuervo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santiago is fending him off so far but Cuervo persists. Nope, Santiago circles away and we're back to standing.
Santiago Rushes Cuervo and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Cuervo is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Santiago Piles on the pressure and Cuervo crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Santiago!
