PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between M I Callis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chalupa Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Ode to Taco Bell. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, M I Callis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chalupa Jones!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callis moves out of range of the strikes.
Callis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.

Callis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Callis tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.

Callis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

Callis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Callis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Callis takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones is looking for a sweep.

Jones tries to bum rush Callis with a series of wild strikes but Callis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Callis is defended easily by Jones.
Callis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Callis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Callis lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones is breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Callis is very close to passing his half guard.

Callis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jones seems a little lost for a moment, as Callis dominates the positioning.
Callis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Callis connects with a crisp jab.
Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Callis counters with a nice kick to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Callis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Callis is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones loads up on a big right hand but Callis slips the punch.

Horrible takedown by Callis or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.

Chalupa Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Callis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Callis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Callis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Callis cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Callis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Callis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Callis is looking to work his way around to Jones's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Callis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Callis is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jones is surviving well by controlling Callis's body position as best he can.
Chalupa Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Callis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Callis unloads with some shots from mount but Jones bucks and avoids them well.
M I Callis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones is trying to escape the mount.
Callis takes Jones's back.
Callis just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Callis working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Jones is doing well to defend. Callis seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Jones is forced to tap and this one is over!
