PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masayo Nagase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, All Summer Long. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Masayo Nagase!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Silva.
Silva lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nagase throws a left and a right that both miss
and Silva counters with a left and a right that stings Nagase.
Nagase shoots and misses

and Silva holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Nagase tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.
Silva scores with a nice hook to the head.
Silva manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nagase with a poor takedown

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tommy Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Masayo Nagase.
Silva tries to stand but Nagase is controlling from the bottom.
Nagase bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Nagase wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Nagase has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nagase tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.

and Silva counters with a thumping low kick.

Silva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nagase's guard.

Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nagase on the ground.
Nagase is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.

Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Silva throws and elbow that misses. Nagase uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Nagase!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Silva clinches.

Silva gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Nagase is looking to control Silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nagase avoid being mounted?
Silva wants to pass to mount but Nagase is defending the position.

Nagase makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nagase.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nagase wants to control the position but Silva says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nagase wants to get back to full guard but Silva has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Silva dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nagase swats him away and circles back towards the center.

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Nagase has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Silva should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Nagase has tightened it up now! Silva should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
