The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makunouchi waves his right hand out infront of him, looking to distract Herrera. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Herrera to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Herrera is rocked!
Herrera looking for a sweep. Not yet Herrera, not yet.
Herrera is still in real trouble! Can Makunouchi finish him?
Herrera has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Makunouchi has passed into side control.
Herrera tries to improve position but can't.
Herrera seems to have recovered his senses.
Herrera is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Makunouchi is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Herrera tries to reverse the position but Makunouchi maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Makunouchi clinches up against the cage.
Makunouchi comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Makunouchi lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like German Herrera has been cut.
Makunouchi is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Herrera is keeping busy.

Makunouchi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
