PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cimbro Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bengt Turnip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turnip has chosen LOK - Passa dig as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turnip shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Slice moves into full guard.
Slice has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Turnip sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Turnip slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Turnip is looking to work some ground and pound but Slice has wrist control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Turnip throws and elbow that misses. Slice uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Turnip's guard. Nice move by Slice!
Slice could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Slice's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Turnip is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Slice defends well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Turnip isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Slice stacks Turnip on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Slice!

Turnip shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Turnip tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slice paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Slice connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Turnip tries for a takedown but Slice sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Slice clobbers Turnip with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Slice lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Slice lands a nice hook to Turnip's body. Turnip takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Bengt Turnip seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slice misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Slice tries to bum rush Turnip with a series of wild strikes but Turnip uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Turnip takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Slice chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Slice is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Turnip pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Turnip walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Slice stalks Turnip and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Turnip's face. Turnip staggers backwards, shaken.

Slice lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Turnip takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Slice works over Turnip's head and body with a nice combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Turnip takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Turnip is breathing heavily.
Turnip has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Slice finds it's way round the side to connect with Turnip's head.
Slice misses with a series of wild punches.
Slice punishes Turnip's body with a nice straight punch.

Turnip moves forwards but Slice connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Slice looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nice uppercut lands for Slice. That snapped Turnip's head back.

Slice thuds a left hand into Turnip's body.
Slice connects with a good right hand that stumbles Turnip. Turnip circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Slice lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Slice cracks Turnip with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Slice scores with a one two! Turnip had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Slice lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Slice connects with a right hand. Turnip shakes it off.
Slice has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Turnip throws a hook to the side of Slice's head but Slice sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Slice will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Turnip seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Slice shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Turnip is backing up but Slice catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Turnip covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Slice Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
