PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Augie March (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). knight has chosen Stronger as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Augie March!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Derek knight!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

March darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
March throwing shots but knight is blocking nicely.

March seems to be looking for submissions.
March is taking a breather. knight says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
March wants to pass to mount but knight is defending the position.

March decides to stand and escape the position.

March closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

March manages to break the clinch.
knight gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and March counters with a head kick.

knight working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. March doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. March manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

knight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. March gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

March decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

March shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in knight's guard.

March is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

March is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! knight is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! knight has escaped and now he's on top!

March is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
March fails to pull guard.
March stalling in the clinch but knight improves position.
March using the Thai plumb to throw knees but knight has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

knight tries to pull guard but March won't allow it.

knight drags the fight down to the ground.
March looking to sit in guard and control but knight gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

March escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. knight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

March isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. knight stacks March on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by knight!
March manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Augie March dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

March has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but knight can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

knight moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from March.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

knight tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no knight has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on March's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
March is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked knight off and has taken his back!

March has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Can knight hold on?! March is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

knight is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. March defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
March wants to control his opponent's hands but knight gets his hands free.

March rolls, trying to escape but knight keeps control of the position.
March tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
March has given up his back.
March rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

March is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but knight pulls his head out easily.
March is controlling knight's position as best he can from this difficult position.
March wants to improve his position but knight is controlling well.

knight drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and knight jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
March tries to regain full guard. Instead though, knight has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Derek knight has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

March keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
March is working hard here to advance position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Derek knight comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well March has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
