Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Crusty Pelican (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuart Wray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crusty Pelican!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stuart Wray!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wray swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Wray.
Pelican dives in and grabs Wray's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wray pushes down on Pelican's head and hops out.

Pelican throws the left hand but Wray avoids the punch easily.
Wray misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Crusty Pelican seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wray gets a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Wray obliges.
Wray lands a knee to the head.
Pelican throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Wray as Pelican tries to tie him up.

Pelican shoots in for a takedown but Wray shows good takedown defense.

Pelican chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wray can pounce on him.
Pelican is breathing heavily.
Pelican takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wray goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


Pelican is rocked!

Wray closes the distance and clinches.
Oh Pelican is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pelican seems to have got his legs back now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wray breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wray, as that shot connected.
Pelican tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Wray thumps Pelican with a low kick.

Wray moves into the clinch successfully.
Pelican tries to break free but Wray pushes him back against the cage.

Wray manages to break the clinch.
Wray fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pelican on the side of the head.
A head kick from Wray lands but Pelican takes it in his stride.
Wray lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Pelican closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wray circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crusty Pelican. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wray gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Pelican wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wray lands an elbow just above Pelican 's eye.
Wray is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Pelican has had enough of the clinch but Wray keeps him there for the moment.

Pelican changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wray tries to avoid it but Pelican manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wray to the ground. Wray escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wray creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Still in the clinch, Wray scores with a nice short uppercut.
Pelican is trying to break the clinch but Wray is controlling him.

Wray comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Wray keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pelican's efforts to push away.

Stuart Wray is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pelican shoots in for a double leg but Wray sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wray lands with a nice body punch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Wray.
Wray misses with a head kick.
Pelican takes one on the button.
Wray throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wray dips to his left and cracks Pelican with an uppercut!
Pelican takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Pelican moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A slapping leg kick lands for Wray.
Pelican takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Wray connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pelican momentarily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wray, right into the meat.
Wray tries to clinch up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pelican fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pelican fails to land the takedown.
Pelican drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stuart Wray dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wray wants to clinch.
Nice uppercut there from Wray.

Pelican bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pelican wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wray, who protects the arm well.
Wray sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Wray is trying to maintain the position but Pelican is very close to passing his half guard.

Pelican is looking for a kimura here.

Pelican looking for a submission but Wray manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wray is on top in guard.
Wray seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wray's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Pelican looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wray has picked Pelican up and slammed him! Pelican can't keep hold of the triangle and Wray manages to pass to side control!

Wray thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Pelican is trying to improve his position.

Wray stands up and beckons Pelican to his feet.
Pelican throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wray goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Pelican throws the left hand but Wray avoids the punch easily.
Wray connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
No joy there for Wray, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A head kick misses from Wray.
Wray works Pelican's body with a nice hook.

Pelican closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pelican goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wray has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pelican but great work by Wray.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stuart Wray showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Pelican looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wray trying to hold on to Pelican's head to control him but Pelican postures up.

Pelican is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wray manages to get to full guard.
Wray preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wray is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pelican postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wray is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pelican, into his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Wray is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pelican sees it coming and defends easily.

Wray is looking for a kimura but Pelican is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wray to get the leverage.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wray in particular looking to stall.
Crusty Pelican has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pelican is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Stuart Wray comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wray has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
