PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yippe Mofo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sid Vicious (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sid Vicious will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yippe Mofo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vicious is looking to clinch but Mofo is avoiding it.
Mofo looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Mofo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vicious circles away.
Vicious tries a head kick but it misses.

Mofo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vicious looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vicious is trying to improve his position.
Vicious is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Vicious is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mofo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vicious is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mofo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vicious, who protects the arm well.
Mofo tries to move to mount but Vicious blocks the move with his legs.

Vicious is trying to improve his position.

Mofo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vicious has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mofo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Vicious is trying to improve his position.
Mofo tries to advance to mount but Vicious denies him.
Vicious pushes Mofo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mofo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mofo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Vicious really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mofo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vicious lands a head kick. Mofo smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Vicious fails in his attempt to clinch.
Vicious misses with a wild combination.
Vicious with a lazy takedown attempt

and Mofo counters with a single leg into guard. Vicious didn't expect that.
Vicious is trying to control the position but Mofo postures up.
Mofo advances to half guard.
Mofo uses his free foot to push down on Vicious's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vicious.
Vicious keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mofo has hold of Vicious's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Vicious manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Vicious wants to hold on but Mofo pushes him away.
Vicious might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mofo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mofo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Mofo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Vicious has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Vicious!
Mofo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Vicious puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Mofo slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vicious stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mofo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mofo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vicious doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vicious manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mofo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Vicious trying to control but Mofo is working from the bottom.
Vicious is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mofo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

and Mofo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mofo tries to free his leg and advance position but Vicious is retaining full guard.

Mofo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mofo wants to take his opponent's back but Vicious doesn't allow it.
Mofo avoids the attempt from Vicious to control.

Mofo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Vicious is on top in guard.

Vicious tries to free his leg and advance position but Mofo is retaining full guard.
Vicious has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mofo is proving hard to escape from.
Vicious trying to control the position from guard on top but Mofo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mofo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vicious can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Vicious wants to control from the top but Mofo keeps moving.
Mofo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Vicious pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mofo shoots in for a takedown but Vicious shows good takedown defense.
Sid Vicious seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vicious tries to clinch up

and Mofo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vicious's guard.

Vicious escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mofo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mofo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Vicious controls Mofo momentarily but Mofo frees himself.
Mofo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vicious's guard.

Mofo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vicious defends it well.
Mofo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vicious knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mofo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mofo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Vicious tries to lock up and control but Mofo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Vicious throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Mofo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mofo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mofo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mofo is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vicious is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
