The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Dragon.
Dragon scores with a push kick.
Drake Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dragon.
Dragon throws a shot from downtown. Russel moves away and avoids it.
Dragon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Russel sprawls well. Russel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dragon gets slowly back to his feet.
Russel lands with a cross.
Russel takes a kick to the side of the head.
Dragon throws out a loose jab but Russel uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Russel counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Dragon closes the distance but Russel moves to the side
and Russel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Dragon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Dragon throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Russel.
Dragon swings away with a body shot that misses
and Russel counters with a straight right hand.

and Russel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Dragon is breathing heavily.
Dragon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Russel but Russel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Russel checks a leg kick.
Danga de danga de dang - Russel scores with a four punch combination!
Dragon is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Russel.
Russel cracks a nice hook into Dragon's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dragon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
