The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shride shoots in and drives through. Spants sprawls well.

It looks like Lou Spants has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shride looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shride misses with an uppercut. Spants saw that one coming.
Shride rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spants moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Shride uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Spants has time to react.
Spants has a takedown stuffed.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shride throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Spants stuns Shride with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Spants tries to clinch up but Shride circles away and keeps his distance.

Derek Shride seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shride stops Spants from getting back to his feet.
Spants is trying to maintain the position but Shride is very close to passing his half guard.

Shride has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Spants to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shride is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Spants pulls down on the head and he's put Shride to sleep! This one is all over!
