PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sean Cotes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Agon Naciamento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cotes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Victory. Sean Cotes has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sean Cotes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Agon Naciamento!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Naciamento is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cotes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Cotes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Cotes tries to clinch up.
Cotes throws a nice looking combination but Naciamento bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cotes moves into the clinch.
Cotes misses with the head strike.
Cotes working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Cotes swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Cotes can't get the takedown.
Cotes pushes off an throws an elbow but Naciamento leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Cotes gets underhooks to prevent Naciamento's takedown attempt.
Cotes is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Cotes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Naciamento jumps guard but Cotes stands there with Naciamento around his waist. Naciamento gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sean Cotes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Agon Naciamento.

Cotes is trying to trip Naciamento. He has hold of a leg but Naciamento is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cotes persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Cotes wants to get back to his feet but Naciamento is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Naciamento avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Cotes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Naciamento looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Naciamento is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cotes is aware though and is defending well.

Cotes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cotes wants to control from the top but Naciamento keeps moving.

Naciamento is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Check out the look on Cotes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Naciamento is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cotes has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Cotes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Naciamento has escaped the position, nice work there.
Cotes taking a break here but Naciamento is having none of it and regains half guard.

Cotes frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Cotes goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Naciamento turns into him and now he's in Cotes's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Naciamento postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cotes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Naciamento, into his guard.

Cotes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Naciamento dives on top into guard.
Naciamento wants to pass the guard but Cotes is keeping the position.
Naciamento content to stall in guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Naciamento ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Naciamento no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Cotes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Naciamento manages to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Naciamento tries to roll over but Cotes keeps him under control.

Cotes wants to work for an arm triangle but Naciamento is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Naciamento wants to get back to his feet.

Naciamento makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Naciamento.

Naciamento has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cotes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Naciamento takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cotes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Naciamento is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Naciamento has escaped and now he's on top!

Naciamento postures up in Cotes's guard and throws a big left but Cotes blocks it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Naciamento drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cotes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Naciamento has Cotes in his guard.
Cotes advances to half guard.

Cotes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cotes is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Naciamento still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Naciamento has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Naciamento is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cotes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Naciamento thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sean Cotes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cotes is not content to let Naciamento control the position.
Agon Naciamento has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to Agon Naciamento.
Well Cotes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
