Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerry Butler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Rico!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Rico drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rico slows the pace down.
Rico in side control, throwing shots but Butler defends.
Rico working the strikes but Butler uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Butler wants to get back to his feet.
Rico is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rico trying to control the action but Butler is working from the bottom.
Rico seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Let's hope that Rico has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rico throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Rico is trying to work for a kimura but Butler is defending well.
Rico with the ground and pound but Butler uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Rico controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Butler keeping full guard, as Rico tries to pass.
Rico trying to control but Butler is working from the bottom.
Butler is looking to stand up but Rico isn't so interested in that idea.
Rico trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rico sitting in guard here, content to control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jonny Rico just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Butler misses with a combination
and Rico counters with a nice body shot.
Butler swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Rico decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Butler's guard.
Rico stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Butler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rico is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rico throwing strikes from guard but Butler blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Rico dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rico slips under a jab.
Butler lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Butler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rico scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Rico moves forwards but Butler connects with a nice, crisp jab.


It looks like Jonny Rico has been cut.
Butler throws a left and a right that both miss

and Rico counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rico.
Rico won't allow Butler to get back to his feet.
Rico looking to sit in guard and control but Butler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Butler tries to stand but Rico is controlling from the bottom.

Rico has a closed guard, preventing Butler from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rico goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gerry Butler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Butler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rico to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Rico is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rico working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Rico trying to control the position from guard on top but Butler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rico controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rico looking to sit in guard and control but Butler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Butler stands up from Rico's guard - Butler perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rico tries to score a power double leg takedown but Butler sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rico somewhat.
Butler pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rico closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Rico misses with a combination
and Butler counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Rico slips a straight right by Butler.
Rico lands a nice shot that snaps Butler's head back.
Butler misses with a body shot.
Butler throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Rico to counter with a crisp jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rico.

Rico looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Butler!
Rico misses with a head shot.
Rico thowing shots but they're missing.
Rico controlling from the full mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Rico showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Rico closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rico tries to pass the half guard into mount. Butler knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jonny Rico has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rico prevents Butler from standing back up.
Rico not doing much here.
Rico wants to free his trapped foot but Butler is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rico performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Rico is trying to control the action in half guard but Butler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rico tries to pass the half guard into mount. Butler knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

A left and a right from Rico both land. Nice combination.
Rico wants to clinch up but Butler keeps it at a distance.
Rico blocks a jab.
Butler misses with a body shot.
Butler throws an overhand right that lands on Rico's shoulder, as Rico tries to avoid the shot.
Rico ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Rico fails to land with a series of punches.
Rico throws a right and a left that Butler avoids nicely.
Rico swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Butler takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Butler goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Butler throws the left hand but Rico avoids the punch easily.
Butler throws a combination that misses

and Rico counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Butler!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Butler is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

I've got Rico winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
