PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between X XZ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Volta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, X XZ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maximus Volta!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Volta clinches up with XZ and pushes him back against the cage.

Volta manages to pull guard.
XZ pushes down on Volta's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Volta is refusing to be controlled, as XZ sits in half guard.
XZ works his way into side control.
Volta stops XZ from passing to mount.
XZ wants to control but Volta is keeping him busy.
XZ works to advance to full mount. Volta defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Volta is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

XZ is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Volta can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Volta stops XZ from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
XZ can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Volta is looking to escape.
Volta wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Volta tries to hold on but XZ postures up.
XZ takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Volta squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

XZ jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Volta is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Volta and XZ has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Volta controls the position for a moment.

XZ trying to control the position but Volta is working away.
Volta prevents XZ from moving into mount.
Volta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with XZ. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Volta's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

XZ has hold of Volta's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Volta tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - XZ cranks the arm and Volta screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Volta, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
