PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shiv Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chicken George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chicken George will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shiv Hero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chicken George!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero misses with a hook. George ducked under it nicely.
Hero slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
George uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hero.
George changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hero tries to avoid it but George manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hero to the ground. Hero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

George moves into range and clinches up with Hero.
Hero looking to slow down the pace here.
George has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hero is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hero effectively controlling the action here.

George pulls guard effortlessly.
George keeping moving, preventing Hero from controlling successfully.

George has his feet on Hero's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Hero scores with a nice strike.
Hero could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hero tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but George was well out of range. Poor timing from Hero.
Shiv Hero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

George darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
George throwing shots but Hero is blocking nicely.
Hero is looking to improve his position.
George content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hero keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
George performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Let's hope that George has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hero is trying to stand.
Hero trying to hold on to George's head to control him but George postures up.
George thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hero's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
George is trying to control the action in half guard but Hero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
George works his way into side control.
George advances to full mount.

George wants to finish this one by submission but Hero is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from George.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chicken George dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hero fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
George uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hero.
Hero leaves George with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
George moves in looking to clinch but Hero pushes him off.
Hero throws a lazy right hand but George sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hero lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chicken George is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hero misses with a body shot.
George moves forwards but Hero connects with a nice, crisp jab.
George throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hero's waist but Hero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing George off to one side.

Hero takes a swing at George's ribcage but misses.
George with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hero to score with a decent uppercut.
Hero throws a right and a left that both miss.
George slips under a jab.
Hero throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A big right from Hero misses.
George fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shiv Hero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chicken George.
Hero misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from George.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Hero throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hero moves in looking to clinch but George pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
George shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hero pinned against the cage. Hero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hero lands a jab.
George tries to clinch up but Hero circles away and keeps his distance.
George closes the distance and clinches up with Hero, looking for a takedown. George pushes Hero against the cage but Hero circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hero connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Hero with a hook.
George on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Nice sprawl there from Hero as George shoots in.
Hero misses with a looping left.

George drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hero smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
George ducks under a wild hook from Hero.
Hero throws a body punch but George moves out of range.
George takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
George darts in trying to clinch
letting Hero counter with a right hand.
Hero takes a swing at George's ribcage but misses.
Hero throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hero wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

A decent looking cross lands there for Hero.
Hero takes a swing at George's ribcage but misses.
George avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Shiv Hero is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
George uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hero.

George closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hero to the mat! Hero manages to get full guard.
Hero looking to control.
George stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
George controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shiv Hero dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
George tries to control but Hero wriggling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chicken George comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think George has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
