Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ez Japaneze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ez Japaneze!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Masters scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Masters misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Japaneze is looking for a sweep.
Japaneze is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Masters misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Masters has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Masters shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Japaneze manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Masters decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Masters avoids the head kick by Japaneze.

Japaneze misses with a head kick.
Japaneze throws a head kick that misses.

Masters scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Japaneze has hold of Masters's hands but Masters slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Masters decides to stand and escape the position.
Japaneze misses with a takedown attempt - Masters sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Masters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Masters winds up and cracks Japaneze with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Japaneze wants to get back to full guard.

Masters decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Masters cracks the inside of Japaneze's front leg.
Masters throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Masters counters with a series of strikes. Japaneze will be more careful next time no doubt.

Japaneze gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Masters is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Japaneze is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Masters decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Masters bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Japaneze's head.

Masters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Japaneze, pushing him back against the cage.

Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Japaneze is looking to clinch but Masters is avoiding it.
Masters tries a head kick but it misses.
Masters misses with the body kick
and Japaneze counters with a head kick. That will keep Masters thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Masters moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Japaneze misses with a double jab
and Masters counters with a big head kick but Japaneze shrugs it off.
Masters circles away from the clinch attempt
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Masters counters with a stiff right hand.

Masters gets the takedown into side control.
Masters postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Masters controls the position from side control.
An elbow from Masters crashes against the mat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Japaneze takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Japaneze is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Japaneze throws a sloppy head kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Masters connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Masters has taken the fight to the clinch.
Masters on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Japaneze tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Masters just stands there and leans against the cage.
Japaneze wants to get back to striking at distance but Masters won't allow it.
Japaneze is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Japaneze tries to land knees in the clinch but Masters avoids the damage to the body.

Masters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ken Masters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Masters throws a sloppy head kick and Japaneze moves out of range easily.

Japaneze takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Masters gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Masters pushes Japaneze off and scrambles back to his feet.

Masters's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Masters duly obliges.
Masters throws a head kick that Japaneze semi-blocks.
Masters scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ez Japaneze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Masters counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Japaneze takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Japaneze tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Masters counters by clinching up.
Masters avoids a wild elbow strike from Japaneze.
Masters stalls.
Japaneze on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Masters works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Masters stands and steps away. Japaneze gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Masters is on top in guard.

Japaneze might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Masters kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Japaneze gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Masters to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Masters stands up and waves to Japaneze to follow him.
Japaneze misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Masters lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Japaneze darts in trying to clinch
and Masters counters with a head kick. That will keep Japaneze thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masters takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Masters is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Japaneze can do to turn this around?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Masters is landing with some decent strikes but Japaneze is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ken Masters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well Masters has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
