Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gryphon Andersoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Andersoon regains guard immediately.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Powers is looking to work some ground and pound but Andersoon has wrist control.
Powers throws a strike but Andersoon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Andersoon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Powers wants to stand up but Andersoon is controlling him.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Powers shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Powers was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andersoon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Powers paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Powers shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Andersoon as he avoids it easily.

Powers takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Andersoon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Powers swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Powers shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Andersoon here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Powers thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Andersoon to regain full guard.
Powers is looking to work some ground and pound but Andersoon has wrist control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Andersoon lands a head kick. Powers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Both fighters circling a little - Andersoon finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Andersoon throws a sloppy head kick and Powers moves out of range easily.
Andersoon uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Powers.
Andersoon lands a nice looking kick to the body. Powers takes a step back to recover.
The fight stays on the outside here - Andersoon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Powers misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Andersoon.

The fighters circling - Powers throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Powers is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
