PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gomer Pyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Garnier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gomer Pyle has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gomer Pyle seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gomer Pyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bill Garnier!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pyle is looking to clinch.
Pyle fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pyle tries to clinch up but Garnier circles away and keeps his distance.
Pyle doesn't manage to clinch there - Garnier circles away.
Pyle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Garnier paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pyle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garnier shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
You get the feeling that Pyle really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Garnier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Garnier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Garnier shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pyle can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Garnier controls the pace.

Garnier is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Garnier is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pyle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pyle has escaped and now he's on top!

Pyle gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Garnier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Garnier looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Garnier is breathing heavily.
Garnier is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pyle wants to get up but he can't break Garnier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Garnier throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Pyle wanted to stand there but Garnier had control of the position.

Garnier is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Garnier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pyle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Garnier thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Garnier is pulling down on Pyle's head. It's preventing any offense from Pyle, at least for the moment.

Bill Garnier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Garnier wants to control the pace but Pyle is squirming around nicely.

Despite being in the dominant position, Bill Garnier just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Garnier shoots in and drives through. Pyle sprawls well.
Pyle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Garnier paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pyle tries to clinch but Garnier moves out of range.
Pyle wants to clinch up but Garnier keeps it at a distance.

Garnier shoots in and bounces Pyle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Garnier distracts Pyle with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Garnier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Garnier drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pyle manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Garnier has Pyle in his guard.
Garnier wants to sweep but no luck.

Pyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garnier has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pyle has managed to get both his arms back between Garnier's legs - danger averted.

Garnier has his foot on Pyle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pyle works his way back into a safe position though.

Garnier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pyle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

I've got Garnier winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
