Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Van Damme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Thomson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cletus Van Damme has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damme rushes Thomson and presses him up against the cage.
Thomson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Thomson breaks the clinch.
Van Damme looks to land a combination but Thomson avoids it well.
Thomson fails to land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Thomson.
Van Damme closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Thomson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Van Damme passes to side control.
Van Damme trying to control the action but Thomson is working from the bottom.
Thomson is looking to reverse the position.
Van Damme tries to move into full mount but can't pass Thomson's legs.
Thomson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Damme. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Van Damme wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Thomson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Van Damme could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Thomson wants to stand but Van Damme has his arm trapped.
Thomson tries to get to his feet but Van Damme is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Thomson in his guard.
Thomson prevents Van Damme from getting back to his feet.
Thomson throws a strike but Van Damme rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Van Damme wants to get up but he can't break Thomson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Van Damme gets to his feet. Thomson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Thomson throws a right and a left that Van Damme avoids nicely.

Thomson wants to break free but Van Damme has control.

Van Damme changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Thomson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Thomson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Van Damme lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Van Damme connects with a nice short shot to Thomson's temple.
Van Damme working over Thomson with some ground and pound. Thomson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Van Damme wants to take a breather but Thomson is having none of it.

Van Damme lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Van Damme can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thomson is looking to escape.

Thomson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Van Damme darts in and clinches Thomson up against the cage.
Van Damme tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Van Damme wants to stall.
Van Damme goes for a takedown attempt but Thomson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Van Damme has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Van Damme bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thomson's guard.
Thomson is looking to stand back up but Van Damme counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Thomson.

Thomson wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Van Damme stands up and beckons Thomson to his feet.
Van Damme clinches but Thomson breaks the clinch
and Thomson counters with a straight right hand.
Van Damme cracks Thomson with a right hand to the side of the head.
Thomson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Van Damme working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thomson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thomson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Van Damme slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Van Damme gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Van Damme shoots in but no luck this time.
Van Damme closes the distance and clinches up with Thomson, looking for a takedown. Van Damme pushes Thomson against the cage but Thomson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Thomson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Van Damme shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thomson as he jumps to the side.
Mark Thomson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomson works the jab nicely.
Thomson scores with a jab to the jaw.
Thomson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Van Damme shoots for a double leg takedown but Thomson sprawls well. He's pushed Van Damme's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thomson lands with a big left! Van Damme is wobbled badly! Thomson comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Van Damme to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mark Thomson!
