PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Cote IV (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saku Vuorinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vuorinen has chosen Rob Zombie - Dragula as his entrance music. Andrei Cote IV has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrei Cote IV!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saku Vuorinen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote IV looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cote IV closes the distance and clinches up with Vuorinen, looking for a takedown. Cote IV pushes Vuorinen against the ropes but Vuorinen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cote IV tries to close the distance and clinch but Vuorinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Vuorinen slaps away a takedown attempt from Cote IV, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrei Cote IV. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vuorinen bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cote IV's head.

Vuorinen has Cote IV up against the ropes in a clinch.
Vuorinen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cote IV just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Cote IV has Vuorinen pressed against the ropes, preventing Vuorinen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Vuorinen pulls guard.
Cote IV won't allow Vuorinen to sweep him here.
Vuorinen controls Cote IV momentarily but Cote IV frees himself.
Cote IV has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cote IV lands a couple of digs.
Vuorinen trying to control the position here.
Cote IV wants to pass the guard but Vuorinen is keeping the position.

Cote IV drops back looking for a leg! Vuorinen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vuorinen manages to kick Cote IV off! Cote IV jumps back into Vuorinen's guard.
Vuorinen throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cote IV passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cote IV lands a few punches from side control.
Cote IV working the ground and pound but Vuorinen is defending the strikes.
Cote IV will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Vuorinen gets back to half guard.
Vuorinen is pressing down on Cote IV's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vuorinen is on top in guard.
Vuorinen chips away with some ground and pound.
Vuorinen thows a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vuorinen postures up and lands a big shot to Cote IV's brow.
Cote IV is breathing heavily.
Vuorinen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Vuorinen wants to stand but Cote IV has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cote IV working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vuorinen.
Cote IV on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cote IV tries to get out of the position.
Cote IV is trying to control the position but Vuorinen postures up.
Vuorinen is stalling in the full guard.
Cote IV is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vuorinen wants to control from the top but Cote IV keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saku Vuorinen dominated that round.
That's time! Cote IV's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cote IV is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Vuorinen darts in trying to clinch

and Cote IV counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Vuorinen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cote IV postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Vuorinen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cote IV stopping the sweep attempt from Vuorinen.
Vuorinen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Cote IV drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vuorinen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cote IV has Vuorinen in his guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vuorinen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cote IV is keeping the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vuorinen is in close to Cote IV's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Vuorinen postures up in Cote IV's guard and throws a big left but Cote IV blocks it.
Vuorinen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cote IV's guard.
Vuorinen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cote IV with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cote IV has hold of Vuorinen's hands but Vuorinen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Still in half guard, Vuorinen seems content to control.
Vuorinen wants to stand up but Cote IV has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Vuorinen scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cote IV blocking the ground and pound attempt from Vuorinen.
Vuorinen is trying to control. Cote IV wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Vuorinen escapes and gets back to his feet.
Vuorinen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vuorinen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cote IV takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Vuorinen tries to clinch up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vuorinen lands a head shot.
Vuorinen works over Cote IV's head and body with a nice combination.
Andrei Cote IV is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Vuorinen connects with a right hand. Cote IV shakes it off.
Cote IV takes one on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saku Vuorinen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Vuorinen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Vuorinen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Nice jab there from Vuorinen.
Saku Vuorinen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Vuorinen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cote IV stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vuorinen looks to land a combination but Cote IV avoids it well.
Vuorinen misses with a series of wild punches.
Vuorinen displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Vuorinen lands with a shot to the body.
Vuorinen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vuorinen scores with a decent looking hook.
Cote IV walks into a jab.
Vuorinen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Vuorinen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vuorinen rushes Cote IV with punches - Cote IV moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Cote IV goes down! Vuorinen follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Saku Vuorinen!
