Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Clooten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Newton Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clooten comes to the cage accompanied by Hot Ride by The Prodigy. Carlos comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Break Stuff kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clooten defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carlos.
Clooten wants to slow Carlos down by chopping away at his legs.
Carlos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clooten sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carlos somewhat.
Clooten doesn't manage to clinch there - Carlos circles away.

Clooten is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carlos can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Carlos sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Clooten slaps away a takedown attempt from Carlos, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Clooten jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Clooten gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carlos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Clooten walks away with a smile on his face. Carlos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Carlos decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Clooten's guard.

Clooten escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carlos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carlos drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Clooten dives on top into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carlos is on top in guard.

Carlos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Clooten looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Clooten looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Clooten!
