PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ooto Laari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clash The Kalash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laari misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The Kalash rushes Laari and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The Kalash decides to pull guard.
The Kalash tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Laari knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The Kalash on the ground.
Laari throws a strike but The Kalash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The Kalash is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Laari might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
The Kalash tries to close the distance and clinch up but Laari swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Laari darts in and clinches The Kalash up against the cage.
The Kalash has Laari pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Laari manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ooto Laari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clash The Kalash.

Laari jumps guard and drags The Kalash to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Laari had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. The Kalash is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Laari Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take The Kalash's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Kalash is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The Kalash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Laari has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The Kalash manages to reverse the position and now he's in Laari's guard. Nice work there by The Kalash.

The Kalash drops back looking for a leg! Laari is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Laari manages to kick The Kalash off! The Kalash jumps back into Laari's guard.
Laari is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Laari thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The Kalash is working an open guard so Laari takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Laari has closed the distance and engaged The Kalash in a clinch.

Laari is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. The Kalash can't fight it off and eventually Laari manages to take the fight to the floor. The Kalash looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The Kalash working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Laari doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Laari manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
