The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davis drives through and clinches with Major against the cage.

Major is fighting off a takedown attempt but Davis is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Major to the mat. Major regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Davis won't allow Major to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis works over Major with some ground and pound from guard.
Davis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Major is keeping the position for now.
Major looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davis is one step ahead there.
Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but Major is retaining full guard.
Davis advances position into side control!
Davis working the ground and pound from side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Major really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Major is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Major keeps working.

Major is trying to get back to half guard.
Davis advances nicely into full mount.

Davis is working for a guillotine from mount but Major frees his head quite easily.
Davis looking to control but Major is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Major wants to control but Davis is having none of it.

Davis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Davis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Davis is breathing heavily.
Major manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Davis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Major wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Davis is looking to advance position but Major won't allow it.

Davis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Major is pressing down on Davis's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Major is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Major throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Major is trying to control the position but Davis postures up.
Major is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Major trying to control the action but Davis is working from the bottom.
Davis regains full guard. Nicely done.

Davis looking for a guillotine here but Major defends easily.
Davis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Major manages to get himself to full guard.
Major is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Davis stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Davis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis passes Major's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Davis is tying to control. Major wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Davis trying to control from Major's half guard. Major has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Davis stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Davis shoots in and bounces Major off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Davis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Davis forces Major back against the cage and clinches.

Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Davis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Davis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Major down.

Davis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Major, who protects the arm well.
Major struggling a bit here.
Davis trying to control the action but Major is working from the bottom.
Davis fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Davis tries to advance to mount but can't.
Major struggling a bit here.
Davis cracks Major with an elbow. That is naaassty.


It looks like Tim Major has been cut.

Davis connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Major some visible discomfort.


Major is rocked!
Davis landing a few strikes.
Major is still in real trouble! Can Davis finish him?


The cut above Tim Major's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Davis has hold of Major's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Major tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Davis cranks the arm and Major screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Major, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mickey Davis!
