The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ronbo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Benoit is trying to stand back up but Ronbo is controlling him
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ronbo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Benoit counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ronbo won't be happy with that.
Ronbo is working to avoid the ground and pound but Benoit connects with a decent elbow.

Benoit is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ronbo has escaped the position, nice work there.

Benoit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Benoit is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ronbo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benoit creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ronbo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Benoit wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ronbo keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Benoit has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ronbo doesn't defend quickly enough and Benoit has managed to lock this one up! Can Ronbo escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Benoit on a fantastic submission victory.
