PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Da Cougar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jed Masilungan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cougar's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Those Damn Blue Collar Tweekers. Masilungan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lil Wayne-Drop The World kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Da Cougar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jed Masilungan!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masilungan missing with a left hand there. Cougar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A slow jab from Masilungan misses its intended target.
Masilungan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Masilungan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cougar moves out of range of the body kick from Masilungan.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cougar crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Masilungan - the referee stops the clock and Cougar gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Masilungan. Cougar manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cougar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Masilungan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cougar defends well.

Masilungan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cougar escapes and throws Masilungan's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Cougar lands a decent elbow from side control.

Cougar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Masilungan, pushing him back against the cage.
Cougar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Masilungan walks away with a smile on his face. Cougar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Cougar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Masilungan for as long as he can get away with.

and Cougar counters with a crisp one two that drops Masilungan! Cougar thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Masilungan to his feet! Masilungan is in big trouble!

Masilungan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Masilungan seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Cougar shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Masilungan is backing up but Cougar catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Masilungan covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Cougar Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
