PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dick Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Liner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liner comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tori Amos-Sweet the Sting kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Spencer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Liner!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spencer tries to avoid it but Liner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spencer to the ground. Spencer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Spencer tries to close the distance and clinch but Liner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Liner smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Spencer tries to clinch there but Liner circles away.
Spencer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Liner shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dick Spencer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Liner.
Liner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Liner closes the distance and clinches up with Spencer, looking for a takedown. Liner pushes Spencer against the cage but Spencer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Liner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spencer to the mat! Spencer manages to get full guard.

Liner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spencer's waist but Spencer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Liner off to one side.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Spencer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Liner swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Liner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Steven Liner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Liner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Liner misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
