Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thien Dinh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borknagar Solefald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Solefald has chosen Bad Boy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Borknagar Solefald has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Thien Dinh's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thien Dinh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Borknagar Solefald!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Solefald shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Solefald wants to pass the guard but Dinh is keeping the position.
Solefald trying to control the position from guard on top but Dinh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dinh wants to stand but Solefald is controlling the position.
Dinh keeping moving, preventing Solefald from controlling successfully.
Solefald passes Dinh's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Solefald thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dinh's head.
Dinh keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Solefald is looking to take a break and control but Dinh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Solefald tries to close the distance and clinch but Dinh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dinh dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dinh staying out of range there.

Solefald tries to keep at a distance but Dinh has taken the fight into the clinch.

Solefald breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Dinh.
Borknagar Solefald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dinh wants to clinch.
Dinh throws a one two combo.
Dinh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Solefald.

Dinh gets caught flat footed, as Solefald shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Solefald drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dinh dives on top into guard.
Solefald wants to stand but Dinh is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dinh trying to control the position from guard on top but Solefald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Solefald looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Solefald is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Solefald is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Solefald pulls Dinh in close to prevent any damage.

Dinh scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dinh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Solefald is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dinh is controlling him.
Dinh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Solefald is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dinh tries to kick Solefald off but Solefald keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Solefald is looking to take a break and control but Dinh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dinh is trying to stand.

Solefald is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dinh sees it coming and defends easily.
Solefald wants to pass to mount but Dinh is defending the position.
Still in half guard, Solefald seems content to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Borknagar Solefald will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Solefald shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dinh fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dinh shoots in for a takedown but Solefald shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dinh doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Dinh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dinh is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.


It looks like Thien Dinh has been cut.

Solefald clinches up with Dinh and pushes him back against the cage.

Solefald escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Solefald fails to land the takedown.
Dinh takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Solefald fails with the takedown.
Thien Dinh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Borknagar Solefald.
Solefald throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Solefald fails in his attempt to clinch.
Solefald cracks Dinh with an open hand slap.
Dinh explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Dinh tries to close the distance and clinch up but Solefald swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dinh uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Solefald.
Dinh throws a front kick aimed at Solefald's knee but Solefald avoids it well.

Solefald rushes Dinh and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nice body punch from Solefald - that landed with a thud.

Solefald has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dinh uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Solefald manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Solefald jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dinh manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Dinh bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Solefald fails in his attempt to clinch.

Dinh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dinh showed some decent athleticism there.

Solefald is not content to let Dinh control the position.
Solefald pushes Dinh off but Dinh dives into side control.
Solefald is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dinh decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dinh wants to land a leg kick but Solefald is out of range.
Dinh fails with the takedown.
Thien Dinh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Solefald looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Dinh!
Solefald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dinh can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Borknagar Solefald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Dinh shoots in for a takedown but Solefald shows good takedown defense.

Solefald shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Solefald is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dinh!
Solefald lands a heavy elbow.
Solefald controlling the pace for now.
Dinh wants to get back to his feet.
Solefald landing strikes, looking to finish!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Solefald has hold of Dinh's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dinh manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Dinh is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Solefald goes for an armbar but Dinh turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Dinh.

Solefald is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dinh looking to sit in guard and control but Solefald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dinh wants to stand but Solefald is controlling the position.
Borknagar Solefald is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dinh kicks Solefald off and gets to his feet.
Solefald is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Solefald shoots in but Dinh avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dinh slaps away a takedown attempt from Solefald, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dinh lands a front kick.

Dinh rushes Solefald and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Solefald is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dinh is keeping busy.
Thien Dinh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dinh wants to stall.
Solefald throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

And that's the end of the fight!
Borknagar Solefald comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Solefald has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
