Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between raizo the mantis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Gatti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from the mantis, right into the meat.

Gatti moves into the clinch.
Gatti is pressed up against the cage. the mantis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gatti down to the mat. Gatti avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mauricio Gatti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gatti defends well against a solid takedown attempt from the mantis.

Gatti shoots in looking for a takedown. the mantis tries to sprawl out of it but Gatti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. the mantis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gatti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and the mantis counters with a big head kick but Gatti shrugs it off.

the mantis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gatti's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

the mantis is working for a guillotine from mount but Gatti frees his head quite easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gatti can do anything to dispel that myth.

the mantis is looking for a kimura but Gatti is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for the mantis to get the leverage.

Gatti has one foot on the mantis's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

the mantis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gatti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
