Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robert Kain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Alan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Alan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Kain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Alan!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alan closes the distance and clinches.
Kain lands a body punch in the clinch.

Kain drags the fight down to the ground.
Alan postures up in Kain's guard and throws a big left but Kain blocks it.
Alan wants to pass the guard but Kain is keeping the position.
Alan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Alan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kain is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alan, into his guard.
Alan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kain wants to stand and escape but instead Alan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Alan has gone for a leg lock! Kain slips out almost immediately though and dives into Alan's guard.

Kain stands and steps away. Alan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Alan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kain swivels and escapes.
Alan circles away from the clinch attempt

and Alan counters by clinching up.
Kain lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Kain digs a right hand underneath Alan's ribcage. Alan let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Kain prevents Alan from breaking the clinch.
Kain blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Kain jumps guard and drags Alan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Alan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kain is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alan, into his guard.
Alan looks gassed!
Kain wants to control from the top but Alan keeps moving.
Kain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Alan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kain closes the distance looking to clinch

and Alan counters with a shoot takedown. Kain fights it but they end up in guard.
Alan advances position into side control!

Alan tries for a kimura but Kain is defending well.

Kain prevents Alan from improving position.
The strikes coming from Alan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Kain is pushing Alan's head away, looking to escape. Alan manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Kain will probably get the nod.
That's time! Kain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kain tries to close the distance and clinch but Alan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Alan counters by moving into the clinch.
Alan has had enough of the clinch but Kain keeps him there for the moment.
Kain digs a right hand into Alan's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Alan's gas tank.

It looks like Jason Alan has been cut.
Kain lands a hook that snaps the head of Alan backwards.

Kain decides to pull guard.
Kain lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alan!

Alan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Kain is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alan sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Alan lands a high kick!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Alan.
Some wild striking there from Kain.
Alan throws a head kick but Kain moves out of range.
Kain wants to clinch but Alan slips to the side

and Alan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Alan misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kain is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Alan is keeping busy.
Good body shot from Kain.
Kain on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Alan tries a knee to the head but Kain blocks it.

Alan lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Alan is breathing heavily.

Alan is looking for a kimura but Kain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Alan to get the leverage.

Alan seems to be looking for submissions.
Kain tries to kick Alan off but Alan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kain is refusing to be controlled, as Alan sits in half guard.
Alan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Alan misses with a head shot. Kain uses the momentum to regain guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Alan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kain slips under a jab from Alan.

Kain darts in trying to clinch
and Alan counters with a low kick, right behind Kain 's knee.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alan takes the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Alan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kain looks to clinch

and Alan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kain wants to get back to his feet but Alan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Alan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Alan is looking for a triangle but Kain pushes his legs off easily.
Alan wants to sweep but no luck.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kain wants to control from the top but Alan keeps moving.

and Alan counters with a shoot takedown. Kain fights it but they end up in guard.

Jason Alan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Alan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
