Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ikaika Kalani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cookie Monster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalani comes to the cage accompanied by E ala E. Cookie Monster is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalani closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kalani lands in his opponent's guard.
Kalani stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monster swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kalani thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Monster not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kalani postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Monster is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kalani, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monster drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kalani manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Monster has Kalani in his guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Monster motions for Kalani to come forward. Monster throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kalani changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Monster tries to avoid it but Kalani manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Monster to the ground. Monster escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kalani shoots in for a takedown but Monster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Monster counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Monster scores with a hook to the body. Kalani takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Monster dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ikaika Kalani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from Monster. Kalani does a little dance to reset his feet.
Monster uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kalani has time to react.
Kalani doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Monster misses with a straight left.
Monster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kalani was well out of range. Poor timing from Monster.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Monster connects with a stiff jab that staggers Kalani - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
