PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hank Langston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lazarus Slade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langston comes to the cage accompanied by Sick Puppies-Youre going down. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hank Langston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Lazarus Slade!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langston throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Slade keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Langston.
Slade takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Langston scores with a three punch combo!
Slade takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Slade just misses with a punch to the body.
Slade falls off balance throwing a combination
and Langston cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Slade scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Langston doesn't seem bothered though.
Slade misses with a body shot
and Slade takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Langston throws a series of punches but Slade avoids them all with ease.
No joy there for Slade, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Slade moves out of range as Langston strikes.
Langston falls off balance throwing a combination
and Slade counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Langston lands with a slapping head kick.
Langston will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Slade looks for a takedown but Langston sprawls well.

Langston gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Slade to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Langston bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slade's guard.

Slade had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Langston defends it easily.

Slade uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Langston.
Slade lands a nice shot that snaps Langston's head back.

Langston throws a shot from downtown. Slade moves away and avoids it.

Slade is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Slade is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Langston to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Langston shrugs it off.

Slade wants to take Langston's back here but Langston is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Langston manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slade manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hank Langston will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Slade lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Slade is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Langston.

Hank Langston is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Slade makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Langston, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
