PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Eggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Eggs told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Eggs!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Summers tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Eggs wants to clinch up but Summers keeps it at a distance.
Eggs misses with a takedown attempt - Summers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Summers stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Summers wants it to stay on the feet.
Summers tries to clinch but Eggs moves out of range.
Summers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Eggs paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Summers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Summers showed some decent athleticism there.
Summers prevents Eggs from improving his position.
Eggs is trying to control but Summers passes into side control!
Eggs is looking to regain half guard here but Summers keeps moving and retains side control.
Eggs is trying to control Summers's posture but Summers avoids it.

Summers is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Eggs has escaped the position, nice work there.
Eggs tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Eggs is not content to let Summers control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Summers connects with a looping right hand.
Eggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Summers swivels and escapes.
Scott Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Eggs.

Summers drives through and clinches with Eggs against the cage.
Eggs tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Summers just stands there and leans against the cage.

Summers has picked Eggs up - he's going for a ride! Summers dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Eggs moves into full guard.
Summers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eggs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Summers is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eggs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Summers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Summers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Eggs, pushing him back against the cage.
Summers prevents a body shot from Eggs.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Summers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Eggs works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Eggs is keen to just control but Summers is a slippery customer.
Summers has his hands clasped together around Eggs's back. He's all about the action.
Eggs thows a huge punch but Summers dodges it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eggs tries to stand but can't do so whilst Summers controls his leg.
Eggs trying to mount his opponent but Summers defends it.
Summers is looking to improve his position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Summers tries to clinch there but Eggs circles away.

Summers closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Eggs is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Summers gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Eggs tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Summers just stands there and leans against the cage.

Eggs breaks from the clinch.
Eggs misses with a kick to the body.
Summers tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Eggs paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Summers looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Eggs!

Summers goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Eggs turns into him and now he's in Summers's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Summers dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Eggs throws the kick towards the body but Summers avoids it.
Eggs circles away from the clinch attempt.
Eggs lands a head kick. Summers smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Summers takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A combination from Summers does no damage.
Eggs is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Summers is looking to clinch.
Summers looks to clinch
and Eggs makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Eggs drives through with a takedown into guard.

Summers has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Eggs off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Summers rushes Eggs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Summers pulls guard.
Eggs pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Summers is keeping the position for now.

Summers is trying to control the position but Eggs postures up.
Eggs advances to half guard.
Eggs throwing shots but Summers is blocking nicely.
Eggs is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Summers is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Eggs jumps into side control!

Eggs stands up and beckons Summers to his feet.
Eggs takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Summers with a poor takedown

so Eggs counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Eggs pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Summers is keeping the position for now.

Eggs wants to stand but Summers is controlling his posture from full guard.
Summers trying to keep a closed guard but Eggs is proving a slippery customer.
Eggs trying to control but Summers is working from the bottom.
Summers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Eggs's guard.
Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Eggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Eggs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eggs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Eggs is taking a breather. Summers says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Eggs is trying to control. Summers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Eggs tries to pass to full mount but Summers defends it.
Summers wants to improve his position but Eggs is controlling well.
Summers trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Eggs sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Summers gets back to half guard.
Summers works his way to full guard. Good work.
Summers wants to improve his position but instead Eggs has moved into half guard.
Eggs tries to stand and escape but Summers is controlling the position.
Summers is trying to control but can't.
Summers gets back to full guard.
Eggs sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Summers's guard.
Summers is looking to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Eggs is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Summers is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
