The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Vanpelten lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Raf Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vanpelten gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Vanpelten prevents a takedown attempt there.
Vanpelten tries a knee to the head but Diaz blocks it.
Vanpelten misses with an elbow over the top.
Diaz tries to pull guard but Vanpelten holds him up against the cage and eventually Diaz drops back down to his feet.
Diaz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vanpelten avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Russ Vanpelten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raf Diaz.

Diaz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Vanpelten prevents it.
Vanpelten gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Diaz.

Diaz goes for a takedown attempt but Vanpelten pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The cut above Raf Diaz's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Raf Diaz's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Diaz takes an elbow to the forehead.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Raf Diaz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
