PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Perrin Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ju Kon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Dog The Nine blaring out of the sound system. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ju Kon!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with the takedown.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Kon tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kon swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Perrin Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones shoots in and drives through. Kon sprawls well.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Kon throws a quick inside leg kick.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kon has eaten all the pies!
Jones is breathing heavily.
Kon pushes Jones away with a front kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kon misses with a series of wild punches.
Jones tries for a takedown but Kon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kon comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kon looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.

Kon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
A nice elbow there by Kon.
Jones tries to reverse the position but Kon maintains control.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
The referee warns Jones that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kon working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Jones is bucking up trying to escape but Kon cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Jones is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kon prevents Jones from getting the reversal.
Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kon lands a big elbow.
Kon with good strikes from the mount here!
Kon lands with some strikes.
Kon lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jones slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Kon is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.
Kon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kon is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Kon has control of the leg.
Kon is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jones seems to have got his legs back now.
Kon missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jones chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kon can pounce on him.
Jones takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kon counters with a huge left! Jones is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kon isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Jones from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kon!
