Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Curtis von Carelstein!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, John Sardoni!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sardoni throws a half hearted mid kick.

von Carelstein closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sardoni to the mat! Sardoni manages to get full guard.

von Carelstein thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
von Carelstein is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
von Carelstein slips nicely into half guard.
von Carelstein is trying to control. Sardoni wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

von Carelstein wants to work for an arm triangle but Sardoni is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

von Carelstein is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sardoni has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sardoni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with von Carelstein. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sardoni is positioning himself well to prevent von Carelstein advancing to mount.

von Carelstein looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sardoni is defending against the submission attempts here by von Carelstein.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sardoni is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of von Carelstein's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take von Carelstein's back!
von Carelstein breaks Sardoni's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
von Carelstein slips nicely into half guard.

von Carelstein is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sardoni defends it well.
Sardoni flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Sardoni is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

von Carelstein is working for a submission of some sort.
Sardoni wants to improve his position but von Carelstein is controlling well.
von Carelstein trying to control the action but Sardoni is working from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
von Carelstein is taking a breather. Sardoni says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

von Carelstein is working for a submission of some sort.

von Carelstein is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sardoni sees it coming and defends easily.

von Carelstein wants to free his trapped foot but Sardoni is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis von Carelstein dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


von Carelstein looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sardoni is fending him off so far but von Carelstein persists. Nope, Sardoni circles away and we're back to standing.
von Carelstein connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
von Carelstein thows a body shot but no joy.

Sardoni closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sardoni lands in his opponent's guard.
von Carelstein avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
von Carelstein is pulling down on Sardoni's head to control his posture.
von Carelstein lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sardoni!
Sardoni is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sardoni is breathing heavily.

von Carelstein wants to finish this one by submission but Sardoni is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from von Carelstein.
von Carelstein controlling from the full mount.
Sardoni prevents von Carelstein from taking his back.
von Carelstein wants to control the pace but Sardoni is squirming around nicely.

von Carelstein has control of Sardoni's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sardoni regains control of the situation pretty easily.

von Carelstein is working for a guillotine from mount but Sardoni frees his head quite easily.

von Carelstein goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sardoni turns into him and now he's in von Carelstein's guard.
von Carelstein wants to sweep but no luck.

von Carelstein is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
von Carelstein moves nicely into side control.

von Carelstein has hold of Sardoni's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sardoni tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - von Carelstein cranks the arm and Sardoni screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sardoni, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Curtis von Carelstein!
