PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buhawi Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sub Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack comes to the cage accompanied by enter sandman. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buhawi Jack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sub Zero!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jack as he avoids it easily.
Jack connects with a single shot there.
Jack ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zero moves away.
Zero closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jack circles away.

Jack instigates a clinch.
Zero is trying to drag Jack to the mat but Jack just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Buhawi Jack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sub Zero.

Jack pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jack shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Zero napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jack is trying to get an arm triangle but Zero is defending well.

Jack stands up and beckons Zero to his feet.

Jack throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jack lunges at Zero with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Zero's hand.

Zero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Zero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Zero drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jack dives on top into guard.
Zero tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jack wants to get up but he can't break Zero's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Jack drops back looking for a leg! Zero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zero manages to kick Jack off! Jack jumps back into Zero's guard.

Jack thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jack not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Zero is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Zero is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jack sees it coming and defends easily.

Zero is working for a kimura but Jack is defending it quite comfortably.

Zero is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jack doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Zero.

Jack has one foot on Zero's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jack. That's going to slow Zero down.

Jack fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zero sprawls well initially but Jack persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jack looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zero wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Buhawi Jack dominated that round.
That's time! Jack's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jack cracks Zero with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Jack working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Zero is trying to drag Jack to the mat but Jack just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jack jumps guard and drags Zero to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Zero drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jack looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jack looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jack!
Zero takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Jack in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Zero sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Jack lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Jack wants to work for an arm triangle but Zero is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Zero is looking to improve his position.
Zero works his way to full guard. Good work.

Zero is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jack has his hands clasped together but Zero extends an breaks Jack's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Zero.
