Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Soriano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soriano comes to the cage accompanied by Bebot by The Black Eyed Peas. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pablo Soriano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Paul Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garcia waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Soriano.
Soriano moves out of range as Garcia strikes.
Garcia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Garcia digs a good body shot into Soriano's ribs.
Soriano moves into range and connects with a jab.
Garcia misses with a straight right.
Soriano walks into a jab.
Soriano blocks a jab.
Garcia chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Soriano can pounce on him.

Garcia gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Soriano has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Soriano accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Garcia tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Garcia pulls Soriano in close to prevent any damage.

Soriano tries to free his leg and advance position but Garcia is retaining full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Soriano wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving.

Soriano passes into side control, despite Garcia's attempt to control the position.
Garcia tries to bench press Soriano off him but Soriano keeps the position.

Soriano is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Garcia knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Garcia's face as Soriano controls the position.

Soriano works to advance to full mount. Garcia defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Soriano fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Garcia misses with a looping left.
Soriano throws a nice outside leg kick.
Garcia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Soriano pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Soriano buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Soriano scoring well with a low kick there.
Soriano dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Garcia. That did some damage!
Crunch! Soriano slams his shin into Garcia's torso.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Garcia has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Soriano connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Soriano lands a high kick to the side of Garcia's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Soriano dives into guard, looking to finish.

Garcia seems to have recovered his senses.

Soriano has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soriano wants to pass the guard but Garcia is defending well.
Soriano is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Soriano seems to be working for a kimura but Garcia defends the submission attempt.
Soriano works his foot free and advances to mount.

Soriano misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Soriano lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Soriano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Garcia takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Soriano bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soriano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Soriano remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Pablo Soriano just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Soriano connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Garcia wants to get back to his feet but Soriano is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well Soriano has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
