Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith has Deckman up against the cage in a clinch.

Smith tightens his grip and picks Deckman up, before dumping him to the ground. Deckman manages to land in guard.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Deckman is retaining full guard.
Smith passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Deckman sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Deckman tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Smith manages to move to mount!

Deckman tries to clinch up

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Deckman's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Deckman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deckman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Deckman shoots and misses

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Deckman fights it but they end up in guard.

Deckman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Deckman!

Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Smith won't let Deckman get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Deckman wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Deckman breaks Smith's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.

Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jarred Smith just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Deckman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Marcus Deckman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
