PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damian Swertz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenyon Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Damian Swertz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kenyon Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lesnar.
Swertz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lesnar counters with a nice body shot.

and Swertz counters with a shoot takedown. Lesnar fights it but they end up in guard.
Swertz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lesnar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Swertz trying to control but Lesnar is working from the bottom.
Lesnar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swertz manages to get himself to full guard.
Swertz has his hands on Lesnar's head, controlling the position.

Swertz could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Swertz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lesnar tries to stand but Swertz is controlling from the bottom.
Swertz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Swertz pulls Lesnar in to control the position.
Lesnar wants to stand and escape but instead Swertz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Swertz postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Swertz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Damian Swertz just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Swertz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Swertz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Swertz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Swertz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lesnar wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Swertz is now in half guard.

Lesnar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Swertz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Swertz lands a nice short elbow.
Lesnar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Swertz is working away from the top position though.

Swertz lands a couple of elbows.
Lesnar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lesnar controls Swertz momentarily but Swertz frees himself.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee asks Swertz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Swertz prefers to stall for the moment though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A lull in the action here as Swertz stalls from top position.
Swertz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Swertz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
