Belfort kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bate Pesadão. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ted Chips!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chips fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vitor Belfort seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Belfort slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Chips uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Belfort.

and Chips counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Belfort has his hands on Chips's head, controlling the position.
Chips throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Belfort works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Belfort looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Chips has picked Belfort up and slammed him! Belfort can't keep hold of the triangle and Chips manages to pass to side control!
Chips connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Belfort some visible discomfort.
Belfort tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chips wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Chips lands a nice forearm strike.
Chips tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Belfort takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Belfort takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Chips crashes against the mat.
Belfort is looking to reverse the position.
Chips throws an elbow but Belfort slips to the side and avoids it well.
Chips wants to lay and pray for a moment but Belfort keeps working.
Chips scoring with punches from side control.
Chips working the head and body with strikes.
Chips working the ground and pound from side control.
Chips takes a little break here. Belfort wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Oh Belfort is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chips lands a strong strike to the head of Belfort. That's dazed him! Chips looking to finish here. Belfort is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Chips lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ted Chips!
