Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Regan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beanie Braids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Braids comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Made It" (Cash Money Heroes) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Regan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Beanie Braids!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Braids, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Regan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Regan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Braids is looking to land body kicks.
Regan wants to clinch.
Braids misses the shot to the body.
Beanie Braids seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Regan fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Regan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Braids drives through and clinches with Regan against the ropes.
Braids comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Braids is trying to stall.

Braids's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Braids is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Regan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Braids cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Regan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Regan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Regan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Regan prevents Braids from standing back up.

Regan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Braids for as long as he can get away with.

Braids misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Regan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Braids with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Regan lands strikes from half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Joe Regan just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Regan wants to clinch but Braids slips to the side
and Braids counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Regan misses with a combination
and Braids finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Regan tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Braids counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Braids holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Braids's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Braids throws a quick inside leg kick.

and Braids counters with a three punch combo that has Regan backing up. Regan nods at Braids to acknowledge the strikes.
Regan misses with a series of wild punches.
Regan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Regan.
Regan looks to clinch

and Braids moves into the clinch.
Braids manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Regan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Braids pulls his leg out and moves away.

Regan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Regan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Braids pulls his leg out and moves away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Braids can do anything to dispel that myth.

Braids has hold of Regan's hands but Regan slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Regan is taking a breather. Braids says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Regan scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Regan in particular looking to stall.

Braids looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Regan wants to clinch.
Regan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Braids tries to avoid it but Regan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Braids to the ground. Braids escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Regan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Braids is wriggling around trying to escape.

Braids takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Braids counters with a body kick.
Braids is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Regan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Braids but Braids pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Regan will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Regan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Braids pinned against the cage. Braids gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Beanie Braids is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Braids throws a nice looking combination but Regan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Regan throws a head kick that misses
and Braids counters with a leg kick.

Regan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Braids, pushing him back against the ropes.
Braids is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Braids breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Regan swats away the attempt to clinch by Braids.
Regan throws a left and a right that both miss
and Braids counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Regan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Braids sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Regan somewhat.
Regan walks into a stiff left hand from Braids.
Regan circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Regan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Braids's guard.
Regan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Regan sitting in guard here, content to control.
Regan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Regan pushes down on Braids's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Regan slips a nice elbow through Braids's hands, connecting with Braids's forehead.
Regan stops Braids from getting back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Regan.
I think Regan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
