Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Parks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jon cockren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Parks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, jon cockren!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parks tries to clinch but cockren moves out of range.
Parks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but cockren paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by cockren.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
cockren wants to control but Parks is keeping him busy.

Despite being in the dominant position, jon cockren just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Parks shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in cockren's guard.
Parks postures up.
Parks wants to control from the top but cockren keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
cockren looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
cockren keeping moving, preventing Parks from controlling successfully.
Parks won't allow cockren to sweep him here.
cockren looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

cockren drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Parks being controlled for a moment.

Parks managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by cockren.
Parks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but cockren wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
cockren wants to control but Parks is keeping him busy.
Parks is looking to reverse the position.
Parks seems a little lost for a moment, as cockren dominates the positioning.
You can see the frustration on Parks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Parks takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Parks is trying to escape the position but cockren is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
cockren lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
cockren lands a few punches from side control.

cockren stands up.
Parks doesn't succeed with the takedown

and cockren counters with a nice double leg into guard.
cockren is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Parks is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Parks is breathing heavily.
cockren is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

jon cockren dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Parks lands a head kick. cockren smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
cockren moves out of range of the body kick from Parks.

Parks drives through and clinches with cockren against the cage.
cockren drops down looking for an ankle pick but Parks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Parks with a poor takedown

and cockren decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Parks's guard.
cockren makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Parks wants to stand up but cockren is controlling him.
Parks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as cockren controls the pace.
Parks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
cockren trying to control but Parks is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

cockren controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
jon cockren has got the better of the ground game so far.
Parks is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
cockren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

cockren drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and cockren jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Parks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as cockren controls the pace.
cockren wants to control from the top but Parks keeps moving.

Despite being in the dominant position, jon cockren just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Parks avoids the head kick by cockren.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

cockren decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
cockren is taking a breather. Parks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Parks moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
cockren preventing the sweep.
cockren is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Parks is looking to stand up but cockren isn't so interested in that idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
cockren sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Parks's guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Let's hope that cockren has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. cockren lands a nice short elbow.
cockren landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
cockren sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, jon cockren just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Parks pushes cockren up against the cage in a clinch.
Parks stops a takedown attempt from cockren.
cockren fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
cockren with an attempt at a knee that misses.

cockren works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
cockren forces his way into half guard.
cockren content to control rather than advance.

cockren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Parks is just riding it out for now. cockren eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

jon cockren showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

cockren closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - cockren lands in his opponent's guard.
Parks keeping moving, preventing cockren from controlling successfully.

and cockren counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Parks!

cockren with the ground and pound from mount.
The referee warns Parks that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
cockren fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
jon cockren is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
cockren controlling the position easily from mount.
Parks tries to hold on but cockren pushes him away.
