PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mac Readen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakim Hamsho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamsho has chosen Jump Around as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mac Readen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hakim Hamsho!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Readen. Hamsho does a little dance to reset his feet.
Readen leaves Hamsho with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hamsho uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Readen.
Hamsho lands a high kick!
Readen misses with a looping left.
Readen misses with an uppercut.
A big left from Readen misses.
Hamsho avoids the body shot from Readen.
Readen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Readen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Readen takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Readen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hamsho.
Hamsho slips under a jab from Readen.
Readen walks into a jab.
Hamsho fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Readen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hamsho's hands.
Readen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A big left from Hamsho misses.
Readen misses with a hook.
Hamsho shoots in but Readen avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Readen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Readen takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
A shot to de liver by Readen. Beautiful body shot.
Hamsho slips under a jab.
Hamsho scores with a leg kick.
Hamsho lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Readen at a distance.

Hamsho gets a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hamsho.
Readen lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hamsho - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Readen is trying to break the clinch but Hamsho has him pressed against the cage.
Readen has had enough of the clinch but Hamsho keeps him there for the moment.
Readen throws a head punch that misses.
Readen wants to break free but Hamsho has control.
Hamsho connects with a knee to the head.
Hamsho keeps control of Readen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Readen tries to circle away but Hamsho has him pinned against the cage.
Hamsho softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hamsho.

Hamsho works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hamsho throws a big right hand that misses.
Readen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hamsho not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Readen wants to sweep but no luck.
Hamsho postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Readen avoids the body shot from Hamsho.
Readen scores with a punch to the head.
Hamsho throws a nice head kick!
Hamsho keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Readen.
Hamsho tries to clinch up but Readen circles away and keeps his distance.
Readen loads up on a big right hand but Hamsho slips the punch.
Hamsho stuns Readen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Hamsho uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Readen.
Mac Readen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Readen lands with a nice body punch.
Readen takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hamsho avoids the body shot from Readen.
Hamsho moves out of range of the strikes.

Hamsho fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Readen, pushing him back against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Hamsho keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Readen's efforts to push away.
Hamsho changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Readen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mac Readen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hakim Hamsho.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Readen misses the jab.
Hamsho bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hamsho works Readen's body with a nice hook.
Readen digs a good body shot into Hamsho's ribs.
Hamsho scores with a jab. Readen acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Hamsho shoots in and bounces Readen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hamsho trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hamsho trying to control the position from guard on top but Readen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hakim Hamsho comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hamsho has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
