Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marko Mihic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mihic comes to the cage accompanied by L.L. Cool J - Mama said Knock you Out. Smith has chosen Big John as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Mihic with that takedown attempt.
Mihic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Mihic changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mihic throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Mihic slows the pace down.
Smith is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Mihic is controlling him well.
Smith dodges the ground and pound from Mihic.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mihic fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Sloppy strikes there by Mihic.

Mihic scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Smith to see if he's OK.
Mihic tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Smith avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mihic.
Mihic tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mihic has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mihic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mihic lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Mihic throws an elbow but Smith slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mihic working the ground and pound but Smith is defending the strikes.
The ground and pound from Mihic seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mihic throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
Mihic darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mihic throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mihic thows a big elbow that misses.
Mihic's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Smith wants to stand but Mihic is controlling the position.
Mihic working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mihic content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Mihic postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Mihic is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Mihic fails to land the takedown.
Mihic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mihic misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marko Mihic. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mihic shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mihic looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mihic tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mihic shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mihic was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mihic has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.

Smith wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Mihic misses with a head shot.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mihic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

BOOM! Mihic connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Smith wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mihic.
Mihic unloads with some shots from mount but Smith bucks and avoids them well.
Smith wants to try and get back to his feet.
Mihic landing punches.
Mihic with shots to the head and body - Smith looks very uncomfortable down there.

Mihic throwing strikes here but Smith is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Mihic throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Smith squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Mihic is in the full mount, landing strikes.
You get the feeling that Smith really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Smith is bucking up trying to escape but Mihic cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
It looks like John Smith has been cut.

That has opened up John Smith's cut even more.
Mihic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mihic in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The cut above John Smith's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
John Smith's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Smith's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
