Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Meier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenny McGriff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meier comes to the cage accompanied by Cant be touched. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyler Meier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lenny McGriff!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meier tries to close the distance and clinch but McGriff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Meier moves in looking to clinch but McGriff pushes him off.
Meier tries to clinch there but McGriff circles away.
McGriff shoots in for a takedown but Meier shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McGriff fails to land the takedown.
McGriff shoots in but no luck this time.
Tyler Meier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lenny McGriff.
Meier tries a head kick but it misses.
A solid leg kick lands there for Meier.

McGriff closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McGriff wants to control but Meier is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meier is trying to control McGriff's posture but McGriff avoids it.
Meier wants to get back to his feet.

McGriff is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meier knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

McGriff tries for a kimura but Meier is defending well.
Meier really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Meier is trying to buck McGriff off.
Meier is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McGriff off and has taken his back!
Meier doesn't have the hooks in and McGriff manages to turn into his guard.
Meier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGriff on the ground.
McGriff wants to control from the top but Meier keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McGriff stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meier swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McGriff fails with a takedown attempt.

McGriff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meier swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McGriff fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Meier throws a right hand that McGriff ducks under and follows up with a left that McGriff also avoids with ease.
No luck for McGriff with that takedown attempt.
McGriff circles away from the clinch attempt.

Meier darts in and clinches McGriff up against the cage.

Meier manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
McGriff looking to sit in guard and control but Meier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGriff preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Meier trying to control but McGriff is working from the bottom.
McGriff controls Meier momentarily but Meier frees himself.
Meier slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
McGriff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Meier is one step ahead there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
McGriff avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Meier dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McGriff shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Meier as he jumps to the side.
Meier throws a leg kick but McGriff sees it coming and checks it nicely.

McGriff shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Meier but Meier pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Meier stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Meier wants it to stay on the feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGriff takes a swing at Meier's ribcage but misses.
McGriff fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Meier avoids it really well and circles away.
McGriff shoots in and drives through. Meier sprawls well.

Meier throws a right and a left that McGriff avoids nicely.
Meier wants to clinch but McGriff slips to the side
and McGriff counters with a slapping leg kick.
McGriff fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Meier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McGriff manages to avoid it.
Meier is looking to clinch.
Meier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McGriff circles away quickly and effectively.
McGriff shoots in looking for a takedown. Meier tries to sprawl out of it but McGriff keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Meier manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Meier takes the fight into the clinch.
Meier lands a hook to the side of the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Meier gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, McGriff regains guard.
McGriff manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Meier manages to get himself to full guard.
McGriff wants to control from the top but Meier keeps moving.

McGriff is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
McGriff wants to pass the guard but Meier is keeping the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGriff is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Meier is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Meier has escaped and now he's on top!
McGriff tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McGriff is on top in guard.
McGriff passes easily into side control. Nice work.

McGriff is staying tight to Meier's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Meier is looking to reverse the position.
McGriff passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Meier!
Meier is working to get back to half guard.

Meier is trying to escape the mount.
McGriff controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tyler Meier will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



McGriff looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McGriff is keen to just control but Meier is a slippery customer.
Meier is looking to improve his position.
McGriff tries to pass the half guard into mount. Meier knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Meier is not content to let McGriff control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McGriff might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Meier kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Meier won't allow McGriff to pass to mount.
Meier is staying active underneath McGriff, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Meier moves in looking to clinch but McGriff pushes him off.

and Meier counters with a left and a right that stings McGriff.

Meier has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McGriff clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

McGriff manages to reverse the position and now he's in Meier's guard. Nice work there by McGriff.

McGriff slips nicely into half guard.
McGriff wants to control but Meier is keeping him busy.
McGriff passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Meier!

McGriff moves to the back position.
Meier looking very determined here, making life difficult for McGriff.
Meier tries to escape but McGriff has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - McGriff's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

McGriff is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

McGriff lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Meier hold on?!

Meier is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if McGriff gets his way!
Lenny McGriff has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyler Meier is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I think Meier has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
