Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Niko Rupponen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Kolari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rupponen comes to the cage accompanied by SMC Hoodrats. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolari wants to land a leg kick but Rupponen is out of range.
Rupponen shoots in for a double leg but Kolari sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rupponen checks a leg kick nicely.

Kolari tries a low kick but Rupponen avoids it.

Rupponen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kolari ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rupponen moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rupponen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kolari manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kolari working for a triangle but Rupponen defends it easily.
Rupponen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kolari is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kolari seems keen to control Rupponen's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kolari wants to slow Rupponen down by chopping away at his legs.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rupponen throws a body punch but Kolari moves out of range.
Rupponen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kolari displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rupponen.
Rupponen checks a low kick from Kolari.
Kolari throws a low kick, looking for Rupponen's leg but Rupponen calmly moves out of range.
Rupponen misses with a wild body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kolari lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rupponen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rupponen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Rupponen shoots in and bounces Kolari off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kolari looking for a triangle here. Rupponen is fighting it but it looks tight! Kolari pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Rupponen is tapping out - this one is all over!
