Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gene Kiniski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and shawn voitsek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). shawn voitsek acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Kiniski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, shawn voitsek!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kiniski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in voitsek's guard.
Kiniski wants to pass the guard but voitsek is keeping the position.
voitsek is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kiniski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. voitsek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kiniski forces his way into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kiniski lands a nice short elbow.
voitsek is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kiniski is keen to just control but voitsek is a slippery customer.

Kiniski wants to work for an arm triangle but voitsek is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
voitsek looks like he's trying to stand up.

Kiniski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. voitsek gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kiniski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. voitsek manages to get himself to full guard.
voitsek is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



voitsek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kiniski was covering up waiting for the punch and voitsek finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kiniski cracks voitsek with a solid left hand.
Kiniski prevents voitsek from getting back to his feet.
Kiniski tries to free his leg and advance position but voitsek is retaining full guard.

Kiniski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because voitsek is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gene Kiniski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kiniski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in voitsek's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if voitsek can do anything to dispel that myth.
voitsek can't keep his opponent in guard - Kiniski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kiniski postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. voitsek looks a forlorn figure.

Kiniski sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kiniski lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Kiniski with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
voitsek's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

voitsek defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kiniski.
voitsek is bucking up trying to escape but Kiniski cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gene Kiniski will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kiniski has his foot on voitsek's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. voitsek works his way back into a safe position though.

Kiniski isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. voitsek stacks Kiniski on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by voitsek!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gene Kiniski.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kiniski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
