PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ali Raid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon has chosen Last resort as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Grant Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon throws a head kick that Raid semi-blocks.
Raid misses with a looping left.
Grant Gordon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gordon takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Raid throws a nice looking combination but Gordon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Gordon rushes Raid and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gordon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Raid sprawls well initially but Gordon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gordon is keen to just control but Raid is a slippery customer.

Raid is trying to control but can't.

Gordon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Raid really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Raid scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gordon doesn't seem bothered though.
Raid throws an overhand right that lands on Gordon's shoulder, as Gordon tries to avoid the shot.
Raid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gordon fails with the takedown.
Gordon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Raid swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Gordon is looking to take a break and control but Raid is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gordon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Raid down.
Raid is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee asks Gordon politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gordon prefers to stall for the moment though.
Raid is not content to let Gordon control the position.
Raid is looking for a sweep.

Grant Gordon dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Gordon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Raid sprawls well. Raid wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gordon gets slowly back to his feet.

Raid connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gordon's hands.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gordon closes the distance and clinches up with Raid, looking for a takedown. Gordon pushes Raid against the cage but Raid circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gordon shoots in but no luck this time.

Gordon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Raid swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gordon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gordon.
Raid looks to land a combination. Gordon sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Gordon looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Raid throws a shot from downtown. Gordon moves away and avoids it.
Raid throws a looping overhand right but Gordon ducks down to avoid it.
Gordon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raid swivels and escapes.
Raid comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gordon showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Raid.
Raid throws a jab when Gordon was well out of range.
Gordon dives in and grabs Raid's left leg, looking for a takedown. Raid pushes down on Gordon's head and hops out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gordon.
A left lands for Raid.

Raid gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ali Raid showed his dominance in that final round.
