PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Berry Juice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Black Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Black Powers was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juice steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Powers.
Powers blocks a head kick by Juice.
Powers slips a jab and a cross from Juice.
Juice with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Powers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Powers on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Juice. Juice obviously looking to wear him down.
Juice tries a head kick but it misses.
Powers shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Juice sprawls well. Juice wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Powers gets slowly back to his feet.
Juice scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Powers drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Powers stays in close to Juice's body and controls the position.
Juice not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Powers showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Juice is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Powers controls from within his opponent's guard.

Powers wants to pass the guard but Juice is keeping the position.
Powers looks gassed!
Powers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Black Powers just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Juice lands a jab-cross combination.
Powers takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Powers is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Juice.
Powers dives in and grabs Juice's left leg, looking for a takedown. Juice pushes down on Powers's head and hops out.
Berry Juice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Powers.

Powers dodges the punch combination from Juice.
Berry Juice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Juice throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Powers.
Powers fails with the takedown.
Good leg kick by Juice there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Juice throws a head kick that misses.
Powers is breathing heavily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Powers is defended easily by Juice.
Berry Juice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Powers.
Powers takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Nice takedown defense from Juice. No joy for Powers on that attempt.
Juice connects with a high kick.
Juice throws a sloppy head kick and Powers moves out of range easily.
Powers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Juice as he jumps to the side.

Juice moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Powers shoots in looking for a takedown. Juice tries to sprawl out of it but Powers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Juice manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Berry Juice is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Juice clobbers Powers with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Juice connects with a high kick.
Powers fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Powers blocks a head kick by Juice.

Powers chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Juice can pounce on him.
Powers shoots for a takedown but Juice saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Juice throws a right and a left that Powers avoids nicely.
Juice displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Berry Juice is winning the standup battle so far.
Juice stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Juice wants it to stay on the feet.
Powers lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Juice circles away quickly and effectively.
A head kick misses from Juice.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Powers misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Powers throws a left and a right that both miss
and Juice counters with a thumping low kick.
Powers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Juice tries to avoid it but Powers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Juice to the ground. Juice escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Juice moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Juice misses with a series of wild punches.
Powers's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Powers throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Juice counters with a leg kick.
Juice looks to land a combination but Powers avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Berry Juice dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Powers fails to land the takedown.

Powers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Juice's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powers content to stall in guard here.
Let's hope that Powers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Powers wants to control from the top but Juice keeps moving.

Powers is keen to just control but Juice is a slippery customer.
